It all started early this morning, when Baltor was attempting to do his Windurst Mission 3.2…..
Some of your may know that this mission involves getting 3 different coloured mages to start on the platform to open a special door. Since both of us where melee characters it seemed as though we might be a little stuck.
However my dear friend Gabot (rdm59) offered to come and help ^^ (originally ~ back in the day ~ Gabot and I did this quest together with Sedorikku when we both needed it too ^.-b )
I played my 25 whm, but we had no blm, so Baltor was nominated to play his lvl1 blm for the occassion XD. Sneak and Invis will not stick on a lvl 1 for more than a minute >.< but aside from that we managed to escort Baltor round the whole mission, and he only died once XD
Here is the moment when the three mages open the magic door:

Magical Door!

That done, we returned to Windurst.
At this time, Theoz, Brants and Dazor were all logging on. Brants and Dazor were both needing to do 3.3, and now Baltor too (Zhael also ; ; I’m so sorry she missed it, but I should be able to duet it with her no trouble).
And so ~ what the hell ~ we went :)

We successfully navigated through the many many floors of the tower, right up to the highest (10th) floor. We had occassional agros on the way, but absolutely no deaths, and very very few near misses.
Baltor took this beautiful screenshot of Dazor’s Ramah fighting some giants that tried to attack Dazor (those fools!)

Ramuh!

You can bet they won’t be trying to mess with a SMN again!
Once we reached the 10th floor, Baltor and Brants waited in a safe place while Theoz, Dazor and Yawa set out to fight the required NM:

NM
[screenie by Theoz]
Of course the NM linked with everything in the room, but the giants were soon wimpering for mercy after Theoz blasted out some -ga spells.

Theoz had to leave before we could take him back to Jeuno, so he missed the victory pose ~ awwwww. But here is a screenshot of the RC motley crew after 3 happy members attained their rank4s [screenshot by Dazor]

Victory!

Don’t mess us with ~ we’re RC ^.-b

[mei mei >.< I promise to go round with you next time!]

I have recieved sooooo many screenshots of this from everyone who took part - thank you very much for sending them over! However only my very favourties got included ^.~

It was Friday (evening - in the UK) and after a hard day of crafting, my fingers were sore, and my sword was bloodless. What better way could there be to relieve stress but go and pound on (or be pounded on by) some mean monsters?
RC BLM AF1 had begun. Team-Suicide met in Ronfaure:

Team RC

Gundam had cautioned us that the location where we were going was as hellish as… hell… on a… really bad day. But we were too brave (stupid?) to care.

Many “SNEAK WEARING!” and “OMG where are you guys??” and “I don’t have a mappppp ; ;” s later, we found ourselves staring, awe-filled, at some of the most beautiful scenery in Vana’diel…

Scenery

ooOOooo. The beautiful lights that extend from the huge fissures in the ground up into the sky make you feel very very tiny.
Yet it was in amoungst that beauty that we meet those who could not be avoided, the Demons;

Demon

Level 50 creatures with great power; they were a significantly harder foe than the (lvl 44) NM we had come to spawn for the AF fight. On top of that, they agroed to sight, sound AND smell.

Our little troop were dismayed - the ??? spawn point for the NM was surrounded by them, and they popped at a disgusting fast rate.
Suddenly disaster! Casimir and Yawa agroed a nearby demon, and almost simultaneously Threed agroed another a little distance away. The rest of the troop had to throw off their sneak/invis disguises to join in the fray, demons linked and agroed all over the shop, with Theoz doing his best to sleep the links ~ eventually we were surrounded by 4 pretty angry demons. [and i can tell you that a flash/voke rotation on 4 links is not hate-pretty].
2 hours were thrown, everyone tried their best, and against all odds two demons were dead before I was bought down, and massacre insued.

We had died in a bad place. Injured demons were limping all over our dead bodies. Casimir, who had had the sense to cast Reraise and run to a safer spot before he died, awaited his chance to raise himself ~ and we all waited too. YES! He came back to life and fled quickly to a safer place to rest. And while we waited he tried to find us some assistance.
/sh {Raise} x4 {Can I have it?} {Black Mage} {Aritifact} {Notorious Monster} {Help me out!}
A Level 70 Paladin responded (he just happened to play a lvl 75blm too ^.^)

At this point Zhael had to leave ; ; so she HPed back to Selbina and said her goodbyes, and we were all sorry she would not be able to fight with us.

The Paladin Raised us, and dusted us down, while clearing out the demons in the area. His name was…… long-and-difficult-to-remember….. (Threed believes it was DoubleMephisto, any other guesses are welcome XD).
We requested that we alone could fight the NM, as the RC Team, and he only to kill the demons that kept spawning. He kindly agreed.

Fight

Thus we took on the {Too Weak} might of the Light-based Chaos Elemental. Its resistance to physical hits, combined with its pretty huge HP meant that the fight was relatively long, but not hard. An easy victory after all that.

{Congratultions} {Master} {Black Mage} Theoz :)

But Xarcabard, our location for the BLM AF1 fight, makes some of the other AF1 locations seems like Sarutabaruta -.-; Mean SE.

Friday was a funny morning ~ it seemed as though everyone was crafting!

Dazor successfully attained level 10 alchemy, made lots of gil, and earned his Initiate rank ~ congratulations to you!

Casimir was also levelling away at alchemy, although I have entirely lost track of how far he got because he was going so fast ~ however certainly congratulations on your (latest) Novice Rank ^.-b

AvatarofPower and I (that’s Yawa ^.^) were down in Windy, I was cooking up ball of insect paste which we were using to catch us some moaties.

FishFish!

Ava increased his fishing level (I got a +0.2 ^^) and once all our stacks of moat carp sell we shall be rich!

Zhael later came cantering down to Windurst on her chocobo to also skill up cooking (and catch some moat carps) ~ she was making delicious garlic crackers (as Gundamcloud said: Bad Breath +1).
I then switched to pineapple juice and am totally drowning in the stuff so~ if anyone needs pineapple juice just let me know! (Cooking lvl 25 ^^)

Keep up the good crafting everyone!

Later the RC team banded together in the great BLM AF1 hunt ….. see next installment ^.-b

RandomComic’s Leader/Shell Holder, Threed R. War X, now has access to his linkshell website! Very special thanks to Yawa for creating such a wonderful web page!

“I was waiting a long time for this” says Threed, “I was really concerned with having Yawa have such a heavy burden of taking care of the shell’s website. I can rest easily knowing that I can finally help her and work on the web page. RandomComic is my creation, but it belongs to RC member as well as myself.”

True words spoken by a true galkan Warrior / “Moink” (as Threed calls it [inside joke?]). Threed states that “although [he] is not around to help out in Vana’diel, [he] will do [his] best to manage the linkshell out of his world.”

In other news, Prof Joseph War X, retired Red Mage bookworm of RandomComic, states he’ll be encouraging to place an Art Gallery for the RC linkshell. He’ll also plans to have his IRL associate, err, Joseph War X from “The Random Comic”..comic, place his comic “The Random Comic” on the website…
{-Talks to editor- β€œIs this right?…It is?! Weird…”}

To lessen the confusion for both of us, Prof Joseph War X is the FFXI figure of the IRL player known as Joseph War X (How lame is that?). Joseph War X (IRL) is one of the main characters in the comic “The Random Comic”. War X (IRL) also writes a comic called “The Random Comic” within “The Random Comic”, with is based on the reality of the world he lives in… which is “The Random Comic” world… Sorry if I can’t be more specific about this, I’m having a hard time understanding what in blazes I’m typing myself.

From leadership continuing the linkshell, to future artworks to be shown, this is Gnome Inventor/Journalist/Singer/Guitarist/Gamer Kopter Clocknoggen saying goodnight ^^

At an undisclosed place…. at an undisclosed time…. 3 random comic members met to conspire. To conspire the downfall of a great foe. And that great foe was…..

Galgalim

Yeah so ok ~ that name may not strike terror into the hearts of all ~ but honestly, he’s a meanie. Like a jelly… that’s furry…. with about 20 eyes….. who likes to spam something called a “death ray”. He is also quite fond of mushing adventurers into little pieces.

But Dazor (smn/whm 41), Casimir (whm/war 43), and Yawa (pld/war 52) went, without fear (well… not much) deep into the den on the Anticans, the Quicksand Caves. They reached the closter of… mud? oh no ~ the closter of tremors… and entered the far, mystical asteral plan that is the domain of the great avatar Titan.
And there they found not the great avatar but instead this….. short, fat and very very ugly jelly NM.

SMN AF1

The three heros (i use the word “hero” in the loosest sense of the word) quickly (or not so quickly) dispatched the … thing.

Hoorey!

A quick trip to Windurst… and Dazor got very angry with Koru Moru because apparently he was supposed to go to Bastok first:

Angry Dazor
[all other screenshots of Dazor’s little rage have been censored by the RandomComic “Not in front of the children” commitee]

But 45 minutes later, your correspondant Yawa was there to witness Dazor’s collection of his fabulous AF1 Weapon ~ well deserved!
Dazor and Yawa posed in victory (perfectly timed /hurray’s I’ll have you know)…
….
….
….
they were accompanied by the infamous “Casimir CardBoard Cutout”

Hurray!

^.~ Congratulations {Master} {Summoner} Dazor ^^

October 25th, 2005

Today the Linkshell’s newest member, Avatarofpower, set out to attain Rank3! With success!
As ever, your correspondant accompanied him to bring the most up-to-date Vana’diel News!

Dragon Fight

As you can see ~ Ava (rdm) and Yawa (pld) soloed the dragon……. (yeah i’m only kidding lol)

Team work!

Here’s a wonderful screenie taken when Yawa got Petrified and hate went insane…… a full 6 person party went into Palborough Mines, with 2 Rank2 participates.

Congratulations on your Rank3 Ava! Linkshell Ballista must once again be planned for the future >.<

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Shock! Horror! News just in!
RandomComic’s resident Mithra has today been exposed for what she really is… a fraud! These screen shots were captured during the Halloween festival in San d’Oria.
Who knew…. who knew? The she who pretended to be mithran for so long was really a…… dark elvaan?

Elvaan Yawa?

We believe that Miss Yawa (if that really is her true name…) let down her clever disguise when she ate a piece of bubble chocolate which was too delicious for her to contain her pleasure. As such she was stuck in the middle of San d’Oria without her disguise. RandomComic reporters managed to snap the above picture before she fled, like a guilty person, to her mog house.

Later in the day, the following photo was taken, leading us to believe that not only is Dark-Elvaan-Yawa flaunting a Mithran disguise to penetrate the ranks of the adventurers, but she may also be hoodwinking those beastmen we all love to hate: the yagudo.

Yagudo Yawa

With such disturbing news as this; RandomComic fears that adventurer’s can no longer be certain who they can trust. Everyone is advised to only wander the world of Vana’diel in groups of two or more.
May this time of fear soon pass, and may balance be restored to the force.

October 20th, 2005

Our Linkshell’s most fabulous hume warrior is going to be spending a little time away from FF ~ he sends good wishes and love to all his friends ^^

“I’ll miss the LS alot. But i will not be gone for good.”

(He particularly sends /waves and /dances to Yugure ^^)

The LS all wish you well Sonora! ^.^ Hoping to see you soon!

October 20th, 2005

Shocking news has just reached us here at the RandomComic News HeadQuaters.

In an unparralleled event, the Fairy Server has witnessed the first huge job-role-shift since the introduction of the Ninja advanced job.
The dragoon tank. Yes sir. That once high flying class accompanied everywhere by their ferocious wyverns has decended to the level of the common warrior.
Recent interviews with with an Elvaan White Mage of the RandomComic Linkshell (who shall remain annonomous for their security) has revealed that the drg/war has better defence that the equivalent leveled war/thf. And in this party set up, the usually frail dragoon was chosen by the party leader to play main tank. I asked Morvin to provide us with some screen shot evidence…
(Morvin in background): hey! I’m supposed to remain annonomous!

Morvin Tank!

and there it is. You heard it here first RandomComicers! What will come next? The Red Mage Blink tank? Perhaps the Paladin main healer? Or will the warrior/white mage rise to conquer the server?

Stay Tuned!
